I bought the top. I bought the bottom. I am significantly up on my investments since November 2021. It helps that I started investing in 2017, so I was up even in the depths of the bear market. But if you only look at the funds I invested since say July of 2021 or November of 2021, I am still up. Why? Dollar cost averaging (DCA). I DCA my purchases and sales. When the market goes up, I DCA sell. When the market goes down, I DCA buy. I try to keep my crypto investments at a set percentage range of my overall investments. I won't get a 100x, as I cash out slowly (e.g. 50% out when I get a 2x). But I also stuff my bags when the market crashes as I keep buying as the market goes down. With that said, some of my alt bags are massively negative. I only DCA for BTC/ETH (these make up 90% of my bag). I am down on ALGO. I am down on MATIC. I am down on ATOM (though massively up if you include air drops and staking rewards). I am down on some other alts I sold since 2021 (e.g. AAVE, TRU, ADA, and more). I was also up on alts last bull run (the biggest being SOL that I started buying at 20 and sold the bulk of my bags over $200). And I missed opportunities too. For example, I bought ETH late as I only started in early 2021 with DCA purchases. Crypto is fine as part of an overall investment strategy. Some go degen with altcoins and microcaps. Some go degen mode with 100% crypto. I keep my crypto investment small (10% of total investments). And I mostly stick to BTC/ETH (90% of crypto investments). This means my degen altcoin purchases for non-ETH altcoins is 1% of my total investments. As a 40 year old, this is the risk tolerance I am comfortable with. For a 20 year old, this may be too conservative.

If you had $10k to invest today which 5-10 altcoins would you invest in (not looking at BTC or ETH but looking to hopefully 3-5x in the near future). Of course just from your personal interest! I was looking at 1INCH, TRU, JASMY, HBAR, FTM, ALCX, VET & ADA but wasn’t sure which to choose to divide my money up and invest in. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! 🤗

ETH. As for others, it is hard to say. I personally have positions in MATIC, ALGO, and ATOM. I used to have positions in AAVE and TRU (not blue chips). And many others like DOT, AVAX, LINK, and much more likely are too. I would define blue chip as top 30 or so crypto with a good use case and decent adoption. But this is just the way I look at it and the term has a fair degree of interpretation.

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

In 2017, I was a newbie. I bought a small amount of BTC. I did not do much else. In 2018, I was a diamond hands "hodler" who ignored the crypto world during the crypto winter. This was easy as the funds I had in crypto were small. Realistically, I was one of the people who bought BTC in 2017 at the highs and ignored it as the market crashed since I did not have significant money invested. In 2019, I was a dabbler once more. I started adding sporadically to my crypto funds. I still only invested in BTC. In 2020, I broadened my crypto horizon. In early 2020, I started DCAing each month. During the pandemic crash, I was unphased. In late 2020, I started expanding to altcoins. Unfortunately, I ignored ETH. In 2021, I expanded my crypto portfolio from 3 cryptos to over a dozen. I started off with ALGO and ETH in early 2021. SOL and ADA, in Q2 2021. ATOM, MATIC, AAVE, and TRU, in early Q3 2021. I also started exploring DeFi in Osmosis (Cosmos), Algorand (Yieldly), and Aave. And I felt like I had jumped into the deep end of the pool for the first time. In 2022, not much has changed yet. I am still exploring the world of DeFI as I have been for the last 6 months. I still am somewhat confused with why some NFTs are so valuable. I understand how NFTs can be useful, I think anyway. But I also don't quite get the NFT craze. Perhaps 2022 will be the year of NFTs for me (Stargaze will require me to mint an NFT in March for one of my free crypto Cosmos ecosystem airdrops). Perhaps it will be something else. I wonder what 2022 will bring.

Being a CTSI holder - the rivals would be L2s like MATIC, IMX, LRC, ZKX, OMG, SKL, TRU - what else lol But no other project has the Linux infrastructure that allows devs to code with any mainstream programming languages. This is the point that made the difference for me!

r/BitcoinSee Comment

Any TRU Bitcoiner can make a case that they didn't 'invest' in Bitcoin, they are just moving to a better monetary system, and they will never cash out, but only spend. Clearly if they pass a law like this, it creates a strong legal case for spending your coins, even if they have huge capital gains on them. I don't think there would be a lot of interpretation needed, since as long as you are not a trader, you would have a strong case for currency usage of Bitcoin.

Took my Shib gains (unfortunately not at its ATH but close) and will DCA that into ETH during the coming months. Then my bag only contains: CRO, ADA, ALGO, ETH, TRU, BTC some BNB, which I think would survive an extended bear market.

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Tbh it usually isn't. If you find a high volume exotic pair like TRU/ETH, you can leverage Uniswap V3 to collect some nice fees - but those are hard to find and whales tend to eat up the rewards. Mostly I look at LP for stablecoin pairs, e.g. DAI/USDC, you can concentrate the liquidity on that to .99->1.01 and collect some nice fees, but there are many stablecoin platforms that may have better returns.

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Maybe. Maybe not. Only time will tell. I am invested in some altcoins (ETH, ALGO, SOL, ATOM, MATIC, AAVE, and TRU). And I am invested in some tokens within the ALGO/ATOM ecosystems (YLDY and OSMO mostly, but a bit in others as well). But the bulk of my funds are in BTC and ETH. So if we have a real crypto winter where even good alts die, I should be ok. But frankly, I am not so sure we will see a 2018 like bear market again. We will absolutely see bear markets many times in the future of crypto. But a slaughter like we had in 2018 may not happen again due to institutional investors. But yes, the bear market will come at some point. And yes, most alts will die. But perhaps it won't be as bad as it was the last time around for alts. We do have more institutional money now. But who knows. The future is hard to predict. I would have 100% of my crypto investments in ATOM and ALGO ecosystems if I invested on what I believed the most in. But sanity controls my actions and 80% of my crypto investments are in BTC and ETH, and crypto is only about 10% of my total investments.

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

I sometimes worry too many people are going all-in on crypto. Especially non-BTC altcoins. While many are solid projects, they are risky. And those going for smaller projects are taking on insane risk. It's fine for a small portion of your speculative investments (educated gambling at best). But going all-in is dangerous. Crypto is very useful as part of an investment strategy. But going all-in on crypto is dangerous. Going all-in on crypto with short-term (or even medium term) funds is insanely dangerous. And going all-in on altcoins is moronic levels of dangerous. I am bullish on crypto. I invest in BTC. I invest in ETH. I invest about 20% of my portfolio in other altcoins (ALGO, SOL, ADA, MATIC, AAVE, TRU, and YLDY). Heck, some of that 20% is in tiny projects (YLDY and TRU). But I don't go all-in on them. And my crypto portfolio as a whole is only one part of my investment strategy. Anyway, stay safe. Invest what you can afford. Invest for the long haul. And invest in more than just crypto.

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Only ones I am invested in are YLDY (Algorand Standard Asset) and TRU. They are both a bit of a gamble.

Mentions:#YLDY#TRU
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

My positions by size: 1. BTC (\~40%) 2. ETH (\~40%) 3. ALGO (personal favorite) 4. SOL 5. MATIC 6. ADA 7. ATOM 8. AAVE 9. YLDY 10. TRU I do have tiny positions in a few Algorand Staandard Assets (ASAs) due to YLDY staking, but I don't keep ASAs other than YLDY long-term. My exposure to ALGO and its ASAs is also about 2x as much as SOL. Not sure I will be comfortable with a set and forget strategy with cryptos for 20 years. The space is too new. But I would be comfortable for 1-2 years.

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Your point about the difference between a million and a billion is valid. As a percentage, it is no different than the difference between $1 and $1000. With that said, your thinking about finding the tiny cap coins is flawed. Tiny cap coins have outsized risk. Most will fail. Yes, you may hit it big, but you may not. They are basically a gamble. Whether tiny caps make sense for you depends on your goals and risk tolerance. I am 38. I have enough money to retire if I wanted to because I worked hard, saved a fair bit, and invested. My money was not made via crypto. I started dabbling with crypto in late 2017. I started investing more seriously in crypto in 2019. I view crypto as a means of having amplified returns. A 2x in a year is an awesome return. I have enough invested where I am not looking for a 1000x or even a 100x. A 10x in 10 years is plenty. And frankly, I think "solid" coins like BTC, ETH, SOL, ADA, ALGO, and more are good bets at getting that 10x or better returns. And I am not going all-in on one of them to again diversify risk. Too many enter the crypto space with the "1000x or bust" view. This is a bad one as it can lose you money. Picking some tiny cap cryptos is fine. I personally have a bag of YLDY and TRU. Both are small. But one should know the risk of such projects. And I only put small amounts into these. I am not investing in crypto to gamble. I am investing in crypto to diversify risk and have a chance of outsized returns. Wealth building can be hard when income is low. And income inequality is a problem in this world. But crypto should not be viewed as a shortcut to building wealth. The same concepts that work with stocks work here. Increase income if possible. Budget. Minimize expenses if possible. Invest what you can afford. Invest regularly (dollar cost average). Don't go all-in on a specific stock or coin (broad based index funds and a selection of solid cryptos). And hold. Chasing those 1000x returns with a tiny portion of your portfolio is fine, but most of it should be in much safer investments.

TL;DR The crypro community uses collateralized loans (typically 150%) to score funds for on-chain development, defi yield-farming and other endeavors. TrueFi is unique because it offers uncollateralized loans, something which is only offered by the company in the entire crypto market. Because staked TRU Tokens are borrowed, you do run the risk of a default, which would take 10% of your staked portion. High risk high reward, however. TrueFi has high staking payouts. Do note, since 2020, no borrowers have ever defaulted. They just acquired Ethworks development team - a group of leading developers in the space. Recent Ethworks projects include Polkadot, Ethereum Network, Maker, Bitcoin.org, and others. With a 90mil market cap and recent listing on CB and other popular exchanges, this token could go into something good. What do you think?

October DCA time. Spent more than normal in September due to a few dips, but the funds mostly went to BTC. I ended up picking ATOM, a crypto I had a very small bag for as this months singular DCA crypto. I picked ATOM because I always wanted a bigger bag of ATOM and it has had sluggish price movement during the current BTC rally. It's still my smallest material position (ignoring tiny positions), but one month's DCA can't change that. So now my portfolio looks like (from largest to smallest): 1. BTC (\~43%) 2. ETH (\~42%) 3. ALGO 4. SOL 5. ADA 6. MATIC 7. AAVE 8. TRU 9. ATOM I also have some tiny positions in a few other cryptos that I may end up consolidating at some point.

$44k-ish for 1 Bitcoin $15k-ish for 5 Eth $10k Polkadot $5k Chainlink $3k Tezos $3k Algorand $20k split across around 5-10 low caps like ERG, CKB, SLT, TRU, etc.

TRU vs LTO - similar market caps but which one has greater potential in the long run?

BTC>ETH>ALGO>SOL>ADA>MATIC>AAVE>TRU (order of invested amounts from largest to smallest with BTC+ETH taking about 85% together).

BTC is a must. ETH is a good way of adding some spice. Other altcoins can be good choices, but they are much more risky. Even the best altcoins could drop 70-90% if we end up in a bad bear market, and most of the 9000-odd altcoins will go to $0. My portfolio includes the following altcoins: ALGO, SOL, ADA, MATIC, AAVE, and TRU (TRU is a very risky choice, but the others are just risky). But 85% or so of my crypto investments (not including fiat/stable coins) are in BTC and ETH.

Percentages change by the day. But my target percentages are: 1) 45% BTC; 2) 45% ETH; and 3) 10% altcoins. My actual percentage is closer to 14% altcoins with about 42-44% in BTC and ETH. My altcoins (not including ETH) from largest bag to smallest bag are: 1. ALGO 2. SOL 3. ADA 4. MATIC 5. AAVE 6. TRU I also own small amounts (under $1k) in a few other cryptos including ATOM and tiny amounts (under $100) in about a dozen cryptos.

> If it is a fungible token, it's a coin. I'd go farther to say it's a coin only if you expect to use it to purchase something in the physical world, e.g. fiat dollars. Otherwise it's just a token being used in a closed system, e.g. $TRU is paid to solve programming tasks sent to the system.

There’s a sub called moonshots for this type of shill. We only talk about legitimate projects here. In the meantime check out HYVE TRU and OPEN for decent penny crypto
