I love LTC it was my first altcoin a decade ago, but there's nothing fundamentally better about LTC compared to BTC. Later I got more interested in DCR because it changes some things quite radically (made by ex Bitcoin devs who created first alternative full node implementation of BTC that Lightning Labs uses, btcd). It creates a mechanism for implementing any change desired/needed, via coin holder voting. Charlie Lee the creator of LTC himself expressed enthusiasm about DCR and even said he thinks DCR should be at 0.1 BTC per coin.
You asked so I'll answer and get downvoted. (I like LTC, just being honest) LTC does nothing novel compared to Bitcoin. Charlie lee changed a few parameters so there'd be more coins and a different hashing algo. There's currently zero development. Nothing since the mimblewimble block extensions which no one uses. Okay fees are low, great. They're also super low on every single alt other than BTC/ETH. LTC's primary strength is it was early to market and got listed on all the big exchanges and thus developed a network effect. But what now? Why is no one developing on it? Other layer 1 coins at least have useful privacy, on-chain coinholder voting, treasuries, building out DEXs, moving the peg forward (XMR, DCR, ZEC, DASH etc) LTC is boring. And that's fine. It does what it needs to do. Just don't expect people to get too excited about it.

There's almost nobody who is still optimistic about good old DCR I think, but I continue to be because I believe its price was suppressed by a mining cartel that had absolute domination over ASICs. DCR tech-wise is very interesting, created by Bitcoin & Monero devs, and now with the new hard fork this problem will be finally solved. (More PoS reward distribution and switch to Blake3 to brick ASICs)
My personal trinity is BTC, XMR, and DCR. These three have many OG bitcoiners in its ranks, both as devs and in the community, for a good reason. Why I DCA into these? BTC is obvious, XMR has a nonspeculative use case, which you cannot say for many cryptocurrencies. But I have been accumulating more DCR than the other two for the simple reason I believe DCR is like a coiled spring, been pushed way too low by the miners dumping it all, with a new change to brick ASICs (similar to the Monero move) I believe it will cause a kind of supply shock. Compare what it did after $0.40 (ie last time it was at BTC ATL, like now).

DCR is a COCKROACH. It was created to "never die". It has a Treasury that allows it to keep building even under the worst bear conditions. when you say Ethereum , are you saying a ERC20 token ? DCRDEX just enabled the ability to trade ERC20 tokens for BTC , DCR , LTC and USDC - this is a real DEX , no intermediate token , no KYC , self custody , random bid matching to stop front running

Yup going off the reserves they held, they were massively down on BCH, XMR and DCR compared to what they should of had. Not your keys not your crypto. Your supposed to hold your own crypto not give it to an exchange which would be like the current banking system which crypto was invented to get away from.

Decred (DCR) is one of the few, if not the only, self-sustaining crypto project out there with 10% of every block reward going to its treasury. That alone will keep it and its developers afloat. For me personally XMR, DCR. Monero for privacy and Decred since it deals to some extent the blockchain size of monero while still giving the choice of privacy.

Tldr # Crypto exchange Huobi revealed that it had already terminated trading for Dash (DSH), Decred (DCR), Firo (FIRO), Monero (XMR), Verge (XVG), Zcash (ZEC) and Horizen (ZEN) on September 6. Deposits for each coin will also cease as of September 12, but withdrawals will continue to function.
It’s a bit on the old school side for the space but I use DCR DeX to trade DCR and BtC back and forth a lot. Last day or so we had a massive spike in DCR price and a lot of my limit orders filled. It’s really nice to be able to make cross chain trades without a bridge or intermediary, just atomic swaps cross chain. I’m looking forward to ETH support in the near future. I’ll be able to trade ETH for BtC no bridge or cross chain fees. Super excited! Already been atomic swapping DOGE and LTC too
Just logged on to my holdings and seen DCR has pretty much doubled in a day. Anybody have any news or info for the pump? Also kudos to those who held through the recent decline to the ~£22 region. Glad it’s a decent chunk in my portfolio
As a cost and timeframe comparison yup it was back then and still is, I’m yet to try a lightening transfer but a bit wary after people have lost funds. Il have to do a comparison with XMR/ DCR see for myself.

Besides BTC and ETH, I use Decred (DCR) the most. It's easily been the best way for me to take my BTC, anonymize it, stake it to get 6-9% APR, and then convert it back to BTC all without ever losing custody or doing KYC. Their privacy and DEX are unmatched. In a month or so when ETH and ERC20 tokens are supported on their DEX it'll be even more legit and useful. The community itself is one which I like, though if there is a downside its that. There isn't a ton of "marketing" being done because everyone cares more about doing it right than making a quick buck. Their subreddit is pretty baren, but their matrix chats are certainly not and their codebase on github is the best in the industry. It's one of the few "old-school" coins without bad history, great development, self-funding, and the same hard-cap on coin supply as bitcoin. Compared to total supply mined against BTC's history, it's value in 4 years will be around 4-5k.
Fair play on that point for payments I use bch and dash, started looking into DCR as well.

PoW basically has the function of distribution and security DCR already has increased security because of the PoS layer As for distribution, most of it was *already* distributed to PoW I'm for the change, based on tacorevenge's analysis of the mining cartel's activity I do own and stake DCR, now that the rewards will get a 2.66x increase, it will be much more profitable, like owning a "virtual ASIC" as it were If you do some research on DCR you'll find is not "just another altcoin", the quality of development is top notch It's basically what those ex-Bitcoin devs thought was lacking in Bitcoin (formal governance, privacy, DEX, etc.)

The RocketFi (RocketFi.money) on Pancakeswap seems like a genuine project. Not a scam. However, that doesn't mean the token price will rise. If you are a new investor, I would recommend you stick to projects listed on Binance. Projects go through many checks and audits to list on Binance. From the rich BTC to it's more affordable cousins like DASH, DCR, DGB, XEC etc. you have a lot to choose from. Do you research based on what you think is more important to you. I like projects with good prospects which are highly decentralized, censorship resistant and their tokens must have low transaction fees and high liquidity.

I could look at the top 100 and pull 10 coins that I have never heard of and call them dead purely based on never hearing a thing about them and how low their market cap is: MINA, NEXO, RAVENCOIN, HOLO, GNOSIS, BORA, CEL, DCR, SCRT, WAVES.
DASH, DCR Should have pulled the plug on those two years ago.
Decred $DCR, Proton $XPR and Metal $MTL. Started with $25K~ in March 2020 with $DCR at $10~. Bought $MTL at $0.29 and Proton $XPR at $0.004~ with profits from $DCR @ $150~ MTL and XPR went up, at some point I was at $2M when proton touched $0.055~. Right now sitting at $650K.

Bought me some DCR and ADA. Things are probably going to dip more so waiting for more. My buy-in for more BTC (other than usual DCA) is around 40 k then 30k then 20k. I am sticking with DCA on eth. For some reason i am not comfortable with it despite it making completed sense to me.

EGLR is my recommendation AVAX but not at this price, wait for a dip. LTC sucks compared to other options. LINK at this price looks good. Still hasn’t had a huge move in awhile. DASH isn’t dead but why pick it when there are better options. DCR is fundamentally great, but the community and marketing sucks, so it won’t matter. UMA is full of banker people investors, if you don’t mind that. I think it is gonna be huge, no way they are throwing money at it for it to fail.
Check decred. A project from 2016. Was outperforming everything when the may crash happened (and for two whole months after). Quite low ATM. Built on truly decentralized governance model. Has own exchange (fully decentralized; no fees at all except .1 DCR one time fee). Overall a great project with long term potential imo. Of course DYOR.

Privacy tokens are the next big winners if you ask me. A Forbes article will be released soon on PriFi I already got SCRT, holding since rank 300, now in top 100 Same thing i will be doing with Panther & Partisia (both are having public sale this month & the next). Even ROSE (rank 258) also is promising as well In essence, be exposed to one privacy coin at least. XMR, ZEC, DCR & SCRT are both in top 100 already, more will find their ways there!
