Just this year, my Atom bag gave me $TIA, $DYM, $SAGA airdrops, all worth $5k+ each. I don’t care about Atom’s price and will keep on compounding and staking because it is the crypto god of wealth distribution.
No, staking on an exchange does not count towards airdrops! you can easily transfer them to a wallet like Keplr / Leap. And the recent airdrops were really worth it, TIA was worth 3 figures for most people and by discontinuing Tia together with Atom you got DYM which also came to around that amount
I agree. I used to find it bullish that LUNA(😅), TIA, SEI, INJ, DYM etc were all cosmos projects but they really have no effect on ATOM
Staking ATOM gave people TIA/ SAGA/ DYM airdrops and other more...each of them were high 4 figures, low 5 figure airdrops. ATOM is far from dead, just the coin itself didnt move much.

ATOM isn't the worst investment. It's practically a stablecoin with the added benefit of regular airdrops. Been holding my bag for 2 years and I'm only up 4% after the weekend dip, but getting TIA, DYM, and SAGA drops in the last few months has made holding worthwhile. Also, I reckon HBAR might be a slow burner. Its governance council is outrageous - Google, IBM, Boeing, Deutsche Telekom, Nomura, Dell, Standard Bank, LG + many more. Rarely in the limelight, but it's growing.
You own a bunch of shitcoins (and formerly, rugs). That’s your problem. If you’ve been through two full bear markets now and don’t have the majority of your portfolio (like 70-80%) in BTC & ETH you are doing it wrong and have learned nothing of past mistakes. I would sweep all your shitcoins except DYM into BTC/ETH/SOL, and do it soon so you have 1+ year long-term capital gains tax treatment when the bull market peaks sometime in 2Q/3Q25. Then, stick to a forced selling plan in 2025 so you lock in profits, and now you have a capital base to buy the bottom of the next bear market in late 2026/early 2027 which will prime you for the big gains in the 2029 bull market.
Cosmos supporters do you hold ATOM or some coins on top of it like DYM, and if so, why?
So are all the additional airdrops I've claimed for staking the TIA and DYM I received. Won't rule out selling a portion if there's another coin I want, but will definitely stake a good chunk, as I have done for years with Cosmos projects.

It looks a solid project. There's been some hype around it for a while. Main airdrop for ATOM and TIA stakers. Like TIA and DYM before it, I will probably stake it. Don't use Binance. Don't care what Binance users do with whatever they farm before Tuesday. But looking forward to seeing what the project can do.
It's definitely stable, but dead? TBC I guess. I'm a massive fan of the Cosmos ecosystem. It's still super active in terms of development and governance. New project are utilizing the tech and still dropping to ATOM stakers. I'm comfortable holding for now. My ATOM bag is only up 40%, but I've made more than enough from airdrops to make holding it all this time worthwhile. TIA, DYM, with SAGA (looks like it might be another big one) and HAVA coming next week.
Hold and stake. Atom airdrops are the best, DYM and TIA gave me 2x my atom bag alone. Hopefully in the future the ATOM token itself gets some proper demand
Just from using the wormhole bridge, qualified for the same amount from both my Solana wallet and my Ethereum (EVM) wallet. I'd say 90% of my airdrops are $1000+ and didn't require much of my own money to qualify(nor did they require much effort). JTO, DYM, JUP, ENS, ARB, etc. Next airdrop I'm getting is NIM, which I qualified for by staking part of second to last airdrop which was DYM, which I qualified for by holding a prominent NFT. It just kind of snowballs like that sometimes.
Some people lack the memory span to see the last two narratives to pump, or the awareness to realise that narratives are even a thing. No airdrop in 6 weeks? Dead! Anyway, we're still eating good from the DYM drop, so who cares? Looks like there will be fewer people to split the pie with next time.
Is it a good time to ape into $TIA and $DYM?
As someone with semi-experience, I would advise you to, first of all, get your coins out of Coinbase. Not your keys, not your coins/property. Also staking rewards on Coinbase are (a lot) lower than staking rewards on the actual networks. For example, staking Atom on CB might seem reasonable, but you're not eligible to any of the free airdrops you'd get from staking Atom on the Cosmos hub, like TIA, DYM or recently NIM airdrops. If you want a pretty seamless experience, try the Algorand blockchain and Pera wallet. Not only do you get near instant finality on transactions, it'll only cost you 0,001 Algo in transaction fees and it's nearly impossible to get scammed or get flooded with scam-coins, because you have to opt-in through a smart contract to be able to receive a certain coin. For exchanges, I'd recommend Tinyman, it's very intiutive to swap, pool and/or farm. But hey, try it out yourself, see how the different networks work, what the fees are and draw your own conclusions :-)
AKT, TIA, DYM. And those last two launched with very successful airdrops. Cosmos has been one of the hottest ecosystems so far this cycle.

Get Keplr or Leap wallet. Stake Atom, Celestia, Osmo, Juno, DYM etc outside top 10 validator (not to an exchange validator, not to a 0% commission validator) vote on proposals, make IBC transactions, swaps on osmosis once in a while and wait.

Hahah yes bro, I feel the same, I was even scolded months ago for saying we’ve been in the bull since mid 2023, not they’re finally seeing it. And agreed, I bought a couple thousand TIA in early November, on top of it doing a 10x (around 7.5x now) I also got a juicy 2000 DYM airdrop. And soon there’s going to be some drops coming to DY stakers. $5k spent in Nov. worth $45k now, gets roughly $40/day in staking rewards, and more drops on the way. Holding those legacy coins isn’t going to print like this, and those are just the “modular” part of my portfolio. If Redditors need to learn one thing, it was that they should’ve been researching in 2022 and buying in 2023 to be prepared for this run. Thankfully there’s still time and opportunity to make money, but for the love of whatever you believe it b, don’t just buy legacy coins lol.

Solid, I would also add APT, DYM, MANTA and maybe look into interoperability like AXL, NTRN and SYN, they have been pumping lately but still relatively low MC.
Out of the above I hold APT, I'm up 42%, but will be adding some more on pullbacks. As for L2s also have a look at MANTA and STRK. For modular blockchain look at DYM, it hasn't run yet. For AI check out TAO. It has had a bit of a run already but I believe it still has a lot of room to grow.

Don’t patronize me buddy. TIA OSMO INJ NTRN PRIME RNDR are a couple solid choices. Some are in the top 100, all are top 200 I think. Literally just got a $10k airdrop last month (DYM) for staking Tia. The information is out there, you just won’t find it on Reddit.

Celestia was airdropped to stakers of ATOM, but it was geoblocked to people in the USA. You could use a VPN to get it but I didn’t try that hard. Missed out on like $3k worth off free token airdropped And staking celestia (and atom) made you eligible for DYM airdrop, which was also geoblocked.
After DYM airdrop, my ATOM cost basis is $0. Will just leave it staked

Yes, but you get airdrops for holding TIA and DYM as well, and those have better PA than atom (e.g. staking TIA also qualified you for DYM airdrop)
I don’t know about that advice. Holding atom gave me Tia, DYM and other airdrops worth thousands of dollars. So atom price itself might not appreciate as much but you have to consider that as a factor, always keep some atom as a basis for this as well.

Instead of leaving money in atom, put it into new things that are built on cosmos, like TIA, NTRN or DYM (there are more, just giving examples)
It's interesting you say you come across "good projects" and yet haven't researched this. Imagine it's like an operating system. Most are linux distros with their own names and small tuning differences. Others are as different as MacOS vs Windows in that they fundamentally handle information differently... others are simply appliance OS' built for a specific purpose (like DYM or Eigenlayer) Coins can also be different. Some have utility, like on their own subnets for gamefi or for voting. Others build their coin into a representative value of the TVL on the platform while others have no technical use but exist simply as a sign of support and incentive holders by giving air drops or allowing you to lock them onto the platform to receive a percent of the platforms profits.... You're asking a massive question that you could spend 100 hours researching and still not fully grasp. I suggest you get to work.

I got $2000 DYM from staking $500 ATOM. The ATOM is roughly still $500 but it's already being paid for.

I sold 2/3 of my DYM airdrop and felt like putting on a baby bag of some meme coins but I ended up going with this and SUI purely because one person spoke positively about it once. If you want an Ethereum L2, you might want to research Dimension (DYM). They are all about enabling app-specific blockchains, which they call “roll apps”. So your game could have its own blockchain that benefits from Ethereum’s security

I’m not sure how much you’ve invested and that kinda matters, but if you are in fact up 80%, cash out the exact amount you first put in and let the rest ride. Actually, I would swap the rest for $TIA, stake what you have in Kepler wallet (must be over 35 $TIA) and then wait. You’ll soon be blessed with about 6 upcoming airdrops in the next couple months for doing literally nothing but staking. There are several other chains that are doing something similar as well. (Injective, SEI, SUI, PYTH, Manta, Blast and Cosmos) I just made fucking $13k on the $DYM airdrop 3 days ago. Just from having a fair amount of $TIA staked. I’m no lie farming close to 50 airdrops currently, but most of them are simply stake and wait drops. This is the ticket for the current cycle, the money i’ve made in the last 2 months from airdrops alone doesn’t even feel real.

Bruh, you’re in the wrong projects. My TIA bag is up 700% in 3.5 months, I just got a DYM drop worth $15k, on top of some smaller drops just for staking TIA. My INJ is up 500% If you’re holding old legacy coins, sure, they haven’t moved much, but tons of projects are moving in the last 6+ months. Gotta play the new, shiny things coming to market and follow the new narratives.
True, a lot of people here seem to have bags of 2017-2021’s hyped coins which haven’t done much (yet, they’ll move eventually) this run. Focusing heavier on new narratives and projects has definitely been a better investment. Early November I bought and staked TIA, 2 days ago I got a DYM drop worth 2.5x my cost basis on TIA - which has done a 7x itself. But I get that people holding a bag of LTC might not feel like the market is moving. I do keep BTC, ETH, and LINK in my portfolio too though.

If you have decent numbers using dApps with WH tech you could still hit potentially. What 4 airdrops have you hit so far? I think DYM, ALT, and ZETA for me, but so many more yet to drop.
Hard to say. Some projects might set a higher bar to try and reward those who staked their airdrops (over airdrop farmers sticking a few DYM in several wallets) The recent AltLayer drop for TIA stakers was 35+. On the other hand, DYM dropped to anyone staking 1 or more TIA. With DYM, I feel like 50 might be okay. 100 if you're playing it safe. But it'll differ from project to project, so who knows.

I'm a fan of both projects. Decent trade. You risk missing out on airdrops by waiting on DYM though. See my reply above this one. The DYM drop was worth thousands of dollars for TIA stakers, and the snapshot was taken about 6 weeks after the TIA airdrop. Not saying it'll happen again, but worth noting.

I actually got DYM for staking ATOM. I'm staking TIA now, but wasn't at the time of the DYM snapshot. You can download Keplr or Leap wallet and stake through that. Those are the go to wallets for Cosmos ecosystem.
