The servers are a clear example of quantity over quality. You'll waste time trying out different nodes to find one that can maintain a stable connection. 95% of the residential IPs are blacklisted anyway since anyone can pay as low as 5 MYST to get access and use it for all the spam they want. The only thing it does well from the consumer standpoint is that it's pay-as-you-go and doesn't lock you into a contract.

Well the VPN is more servers than many mainstream providers combined AND has residential IPs. Name 1 VPN that can do that for a few bucks a month? Yeah I guess Nodes are a bit like honeygain, but the incentives are way more transparent. Settlement occurs pretty quickly (5 MYST) so I mean there is no-locks and you can insta-sell. Tech-wise I guess it's 'nothing special' but why does it have to be if nobody else is utilsiing it? It just works.

Tbh some of this information is outdated. Both Mysterium and Helium are already very sophisticated and have solved many of the issues you mention. **Security:** End-to end encryption stops packet sniffing, like Mysteirum and Helium both feature. 99.9% of all web traffic is encrypted. How is it riskier than using a CENTRALIZED server that can be subpoenaed at any time, where as a DECENTRALIZED, hard-wired no logs client solves all of this AND rewards the end user. **Consequences for the Node Host:** Yep, there is certainly risks involved in hosting a public VPN node. There are two main types of traffic you can select when noderunning these types of projects, B2B or Public VPN. B2B is actually pretty risk free for most Noderunners. Public VPN is riskier, and I would not personally recommend for the reasons you mentioned in western countries. BUT people do, and there are legal protections when registering if users wish to take the risk to earn. ISP throttling is actually illegal, if its against TOC thats a different question entirely. Could you share one provider that states you’re not allowed to run a MYST node or setup a Helium hotspot? **Bandwidth issues:** This is actually FUD TBH sorry, a study by North Western Univerisity demonstrates speed comparable in performance to mainstream VPNs from MysteriumVPN as long as 3 years ago. Much like inflated currencies and monopolies, centralized VPNs should not be trusted, especially when superior decentralized blockchain platforms exist. Just my 2cents! Thanks for your response.

My uses: My 1st use case: I use MYST tokens to access a decentralized vpn that is blockchain based (I also run a node).. so earn MYST then use it on another computer to access the decentralized vpn, it has direct utility and never needs to pass through being exchanged with fiat 2nd use case: This got me moving into crypto in the first place. I travel internationally and was dealing with difficult processes and high expenses as well as bad exchange rates when sending money internationally ( Bankwire, MoneyGram, WU, etc... )... Being able to use crypto eliminated bad exchange rates, got rid of high transfer fees for me and eliminated delays.. (bank wires take a week sometimes. it also prevented money services form adding unnecessary hurdles to the process.

Sure, it can be good, but what do you want to learn? You need a personalized experience for your own goals, and that's up to you. Do you want to learn new tech stacks? Is that smart contracts, or any blockchain project? There are so many different projects to take a look at that a single course won't even mention once. Excluding smart contracts, here are some I personally use: $AKT is great for backends and most images you can think of, $GLM is perfect for heavy CPU or GPU computations but worse at normal apps, $SC (esp. Skynet & Filebase) is awesome for storage, maybe there's room for $MYST or $DVPN for proxies in some way, the list goes on. For smart contracts, you can use $ETH, $MATIC, $ALGO, $EVMOS, and a dozen other projects. Some of these use Solidity, some don't, and you will want to change your approach accordingly.

r/CryptoMarketsSee Comment

As a developer, anything I can personally make use of. While I don't speculate on their prices, they will be game changers for their respective niches. $AKT is great for backends and most images you can think of, $GLM is perfect for heavy CPU or GPU computations but worse at normal apps, $SC (esp. r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

I don't use it for everyday purchases, but I do use it for different digital services. Personally I only use Akash for my own projects that I pay AKT for to get cloud compute, but it's possible to use SC to rent storage on Sia, GLM to rent compute on Golem, MYST to rent VPN on Mysterium, and so on,,,

Here are two I personally like and hold tokens for. **Mysterium $MYST**: **The good:** * 11,000 Nodes (more exit nodes than TOR) * 110+ participating countries * PayPal support * Run a MYST node on basically anything, even a Rasberry Pi * Google Play, Windows, Linux, Mac VPN support * Privacy infrastructure with "Mysterium 2.0" * Coded to not store data logs **The bad:** * No IOS support * Topping up with fiat can take a few hours **Sentinel $DVPN**: **The good:** * Great Android U.I * Testnet so currently can be used for free * Google Play, Windows, Linux, Mac VPN support * Coded to not store data logs **The bad:** * Limited number of supported regions so far (checked around 10 last time) * 61% APY staking is unsustainable IMO Other solutions I have heard about but not tested: *Helium, Deeper Network*.

Here are a few of the utility tokens that I am most excited for since they actually have real world usage and actively use the tokens as incentive to power their networks. I’m sure they are many more but I personally feel like these are pretty big ones here. **disclaimer. I am invested in each one of these. Not to say that I have a bunch of money cause I don’t. I am actively working on projects associated with each because I believe in them and I believe they can all be used as tools to free ourselves from the nightmarish reality we have come to accept as the web today.** ***Do not sink money into these thinking you will become rich because that will likely not happen. For some of these keeping the coin cheap is actually beneficial since it keeps the projects decentralized. (This is especially true in the case of Filecoin.)*** **Filecoin: ** A truly decentralized cloud storage provider that is looking to also offer Ethereum like smart contracts. The network is basically is composed of a bunch of extremely talented and well educated individuals that take data persistence extremely seriously. The project itself is so insanely deep and complex that trying to explain it in a post would be pointless so here are just a few benefits. 1. On chain storage provided by individuals that won’t make you sign a ToS or hand over any private info. 2. Upload and download has the potential to be waaaaay faster if a storage miner is local to your area. 3. you don’t need to worry about your provider altering or compressing your data (ie. Loss of quality in video or photos) 4. can offer a more secure version of sharing data as long as you encrypt before you upload it. 5. fights against censorship since the storage miners realistically don’t know or care what they are storing. 6. Cost of cloud storage/archival can be extremely cheap since the miners benefit even without payment since storing data helps their chances at mining a block. **Helium:** It’s providing a decentralized network of wireless access points for IoT and 5G capable devices. Individuals purchase hotspot miners that are able to communicate with other hotspots to create a mesh network across the world that will eventually offer a complete alternative to massive telecom services. Currently miners have saturated a large portion of the world in Lorawan to make a more secure IoT network. They just started the rollout for their 5G capable hotspots. I don’t know the details of the 5G services however it is likely that the cost will be gauged by the overall usage of hotspots and instead of one big company receiving payment it will likely be the individuals that are running the hotspots that will receive the entirety of payment just as how the lorawan version of the hotspots have done. Benefits *could* include. 1. Using network without fear of sensorship. 2. Lower cost since there is no middle man or advertising budget or anything that needs to be paid for in terms of overhead. 3. Network congestion will likely be lower since hotspots are highly sought after and deployed in large scale. 4. Once the network is built out this could allow for communication in the event of “internet shutdown” 5. Network will provide better coverage than any single entity could provide thanks to sanctioning and cost of deployment for large businesses. **Decentralized VPNs** **Sentinel and MYST** I’m wrapping both of these up into two as they both are trying to tackle similar problems using different methods, ideologies and are on different chains as a whole. MYST seems to be taking a straightforward approach of being a DVPn provider on the Ethereum chain. Users set up relay nodes for individuals to connect to from all around the world so that they can encrypt their traffic from their isp, governments or prying eyes. Sentinel on the other hand is on the Cosmos chain and is aiming to offer more or less a platform for other decentralized vpn providers to hook into their ecosystem to offer these benefits plus whatever other additional services/features that could be built on top of their framework. (Where the whole cosmos interoperability benefit comes into play) benefits include but aren’t limited to. 1. Increased privacy and breaks down the geo-locked walls content providers have put up across the world. 2. Increased anonymity actively throws a wrench into the whole geographic price locking where individuals need to pay more just because of where they live or who they are. 3. Censorship is significantly harder if not near impossible when all of your traffic is being relayed through encrypted tunnels and exiting through the relay of your choice. 4. Having dapps built onto the network can allow users to pick and choose whatever web experience they want whether it be ad free or even stripped of all of the tracking that is included in clear net browsing that typical users aren’t aware of “Facebook/google trackers”. 5. No worries of a single entity posing as a single point of failure when it comes to data breaches or govt intervention. 6. No personally identifiable information stored on chain tying your payment information or web traffic to yourself. **Defi** I have a preference of exactly what defi app I prefer however there are tons of decentralized options here that might speak to someone more than another. Using defi applications storing your assets allows you to accumulate wealth in a new and in my opinion a waaaaay more efficient manner. Using these platforms to store tokens can be a great way to generate some passive income thanks to apy returns. What’s great about these is you can also borrow against your bag in the event of an emergency or if you suspect that the value of the tokens will continue to rise. Of course you have the ability to do wayyy more than just that but I just felt that was one of the more important aspects there. Just be sure to know what you are getting into when you deposit your tokens into a protocol as they are subject to vulnerabilities and have many other risk factors involved. I just felt that this was a good honorable mention since we were on the subject of utility. Benefits include. 1. Keeping your funds out of the hands of banks. 2. Taking advantage of micro loans or macro loans with significantly lower interest rates 3. Gives individuals tools to build their portfolio in a way that generally rewards users just for using the platform. A few honorable mentions as I am tired and I’m sure nobody has read up to this point. *Akashnet*: cosmos based decentralized virtual machine network *stablecoins*: For when you trust usd more than whatever asset you think is about to tank. *Monero*: Something about anonymous and a boating accident? I had more but it’s time for sleep if you made it this far then thanks for joining my Ted talk.

SushiSwap with a marketcap of $1.2b has 75k active users while $MYST is literally sitting at $8mcap and have a great reputation in the space. Mysterium is a decentralized VPN, users (nodes) can make money by sharing their internet connection and earning $MYST tokens. GLM, SC, AKT, MYST, STORJ Utility tokens with real world use-cases (compute, storage, VPN)

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Mysterium - been going since 2016/2017 and have around 100,000 monthly active users for their dVPN - people earning the token through providing their connection as a VPN and others using that. Basically a better decentralized competitor to Orchid, but Orchid has had better marketing so far. MYST has a market cap of $15m which is just pathetic - when they have their full mainnet release next year and they get listed in Binance the pump will be insane. Golem - was the biggest ICO in crypto back in 2016. The team still holds over $1bn ETH to fund the development and marketing of their decentralized computing network where you can provide computing power to earn the token, or pay others to process your data. Currently a $600m market cap, Coinbase Pro has their old token (GNT) ready to migrate (to GLM), they're about to announce something big they've been working on, the user base is trending upwards, the token is trending to it's ATH, internet access and GPU processing is soon coming to the software - there's just so much happening that will propel it much further.

r/CryptoCurrenciesSee Comment

I would personally invest it in utility coins, although it's probably very risky. I have most of my portfolio in SC, GLM, and AKT. I also have a bigger portion in HNS, MYST, and STORJ. MYST - a functioning, unique use case (de-centralized VPN) and way down at #1000 in market cap. Once it's easier to buy and they implement their solutions to encourage more people to host, I think it will climb monstrously.

GLM, SC, AKT, and MYST. They do storage, compute/servers, and VPN on idle software which will both make cloud services cheaper and more eco-friendly. It will also make for industrial grade computing power to be available to the masses, from students to everyday users. They're amazing.

GLM, SC, AKT, and MYST. All of these are great utility tokens with real-world use-cases; computing/servers, storage, computing/servers, VPN.

GLM, SC, AKT, MYST, PKT GLM does compute, and so does AKT. SC does storage, MYST does VPN, and PKT bandwidth sharing basically. All real-world use-cases for applications that are used every single day by most people.

Outside of top 50, Sia/SC, outside of top 100, Golem/GLM, Akash/AKT, Mysterium/MYST, Storj/STORJ. They all serve a purpose within common day-to-day applications, so theoretically huge companies could start to use them. Sia and Storj does storage, Golem and Akash does hosting/computing, and Mysterium VPN.

Well, unknown coins are the ones with the biggest chance to grow huge percentually ;) that's the only reason why I keep some MYST, as it's a #1000 coin that is essentially as good as NordVPN, but decentralized.

If you run a node then you will have the ability to earn MYST.

The GLM Rewards Program requires KYC just FYI, but it's just on Ethereum so you don't have to worry about that multiple wallets thing. I have about 7 coins I'm looking at and here's a list ranging from highest to lowest: Golem/GLM, Akash/AKT, Sia/SC, Handshake/HNS, Mysterium/MYST, Storj/STORJ, Algorand/ALGO. Of these, HNS is just to make a quick buck flipping HNS-domains, and ALGO is just because I got it from a bounty. And of the rest, there are 3 seperate wallets for the 5 coins, with 3 being supported on ETH (GLM, MYST, STORJ).

SC followed by GLM followed by AKT followed by MYST followed by STORJ

I really like the concept behind MYST, because I abhor censorship. But that team needs to address the issue of others using your bandwidth to do illegal things, and if one could be held liable for that activity. If there's a good answer I'll invest heavily.

I invest in technology vs utilization & how well the project can stay afloat without success. People keep recommending ETH and BTC but I rather stay with my utility coins which can handle both personal and commercial load. Take a look at Golem/GLM, Akash/AKT, Sia/SC, Storj/STORJ, Mysterium/MYST. The last one is the only one that can't handle much commercial load, rest are perfect for that. Golem has millions of dollars worth of ETH, and Sia has a respectable amount too - and I keep most of my money there.

GLM, AKT, SC, MYST <---- These are all utility coins where you can rent servers, storage and VPN. Super exciting

You have every right to be excited about that project. It's great. But don't misinform people. You clearly haven't read their whitepaper because they did not solve those problems. Quite to the contrary, sharing the providers IP is part of the actual service MYST offers. As it should be with a VPN. The project is built around being a secure VPN with people using it for non-illegal matters. You don't want someone with your IP buying contraband. Some Node providers whitelist their exit capabilities to try and give themselves at least some kind of safety against illegal activity. If you want to start a node, be sure to know what you are doing. If you want to use MYST be sure the encryption is actually fully implemented and functional. Is phase 2 completed yet? Was it audited and pentested? Answer those questions first, for your own sake.

That's an amazing story. Hope all goes well. With crypto, you could also get Mysterium (MYST). This is basically a decentralized VPN in the crypto world - and this might also be more cost efficient but don't take my word on that haha

The team has been focusing on development and building a true working DVPN on blockchain. Now the cat is out of the bag, I expect $MYST to shortly join Sentinel and Deeper Network in the $60m market cap club which would be a 10x gain from here.

Anyone have experience running a $MYST node in the UK? MattLong6 has been running one on his channel and made around $30 a month just sharing his internet connection so tempted, esp with such a big growth room but also not sure due to potential legal implications :s
