there is NO LIMIT to the number of IOUs that brokers will put in your account its just digits on a screen. if they don't WANT the price of btc to be impacted it NEVER has to be via buys on their platform. that money will NEVER see bitcoin if the brokerage doesn't want it to. This is literally what happens with gold, stocks, etc. if it cannot be QUICKLY withdrawn then they are 100% bulletproof and can sell as much paper btc as they want with no price discovery. I know this sounds crazy but this is literally how the stock markets work. Hell some brokerages even sell your orders to other entities instead of filling them so they can screw around with that volume. i 100% agree with your second sentence.

yea i have one set up and used to trade stocks/calls/puts like an idiot so i have a brokerage account there too its an non-FDIC (for cash bal) and non SPIC (for the fake share ious they sell you) separate 'tab' with its own cash ball and btc bals. Its DEFINATELY not a hot wallet and there is no insurance or guarantee against loss of the balance and the disclaimer if you read it when you sign up says you own rights to NOTHING. fidelity has been in btc for AGES i think they are collecting cash and using their own mountain of btc as their backup, but since you can never exchange there is NO LIMIT on how much they can 'sell'.

BTC is an infinite deflationary monetary system. Great store of value...but I'd argue that its not a great use for everyday purchases. BTC has a fixed 21M coins with an unlimited amount of users. This will cause BTC price to constantly be on the rise(fast or slow). A constant increase in BTC value would put goods and services worth less BTC. Economic growth would decline as people would save to wait for a better price. Case in point, people have the option right now to buy anything in the world with BTC, but most are choosing to not spend it as it will have more purchasing power in the future. Another thing to consider with an ever increasing value, product X is worth 1 sat. BTC increases in price, but you can't go lower than 1 sat for payment. HOWEVER...people will argue millisatoshis, which can break down 1 satoshi into 1000 millisatoshis. But my point still stands. When product X is worth 1 millisatoshi on the lightning network on day 1, but the next day the price of btc goes up, and product X is worth less than that, you cant transfer less than that amount. Unless you say that you can then somehow divide a millisatoshi's even more. IN WHICH CASE BTC HAS NO SUPPLY LIMIT THEN. So please do not argue that point as it negates its biggest advantage of being a fixed supply.

Limit buying is when you put in an order on the market to buy stock or coins at price X. For example you want 100 XNR for a price of 1$. Current market price for XNR is 2$ and falling. Your limit order will only be filled when the coin falls to 1$ or lower and will automatically buy the coin at the price LIMIT you want.

>That's not how it works. Miners have a cost to mining btc. They have to sell the rewards they receive to cover their costs and keep whatever is left as profit. How do you not know this? Yes that's literally how it works. If you're poor and can't afford an ASIC, you can't mine. If you are semi poor and can afford 1 ASIC, you can earn a small reward. If you're rich and you can afford 1000 ASICs, you're pulling in 1000x as much money as the dude with 1 ASIC, plus you can also get a better deal on electricity. How do you not know this? >The 2000 ETH limit wasn't enforced. THERE WAS NO LIMIT IN ON THE ICO. ANYONE COULD BUY ANY AMOUNT OF ETH **AT THE SAME RATE.** Are you saying this somehow wasn't fair because rich people have more money? Yes I agree, but that's a fact of the world. >This isn't even an argument lol. Bitcoin didn't have a premine. This is a fact. No, it didn't, it initially had 2 dudes controlling 100% of the supply, with that number slowly dwindling over time. Ethereum started out with like 10,000 holders. That's 5000x more decentralized. >Validators are part of the social layer, which is where governance is derived. And the social layer along with the machine layer make up the consensus mechanism. You're naive to think that validators don't have influence and/or control over the network. Either that or I understand it better than you, sadly. You're literally talking out of your ass now. Researchers or devs or *anyone else* can suggest an EIP, client teams can implement those in their clients, anyone are free to update their clients *or not*. That's how the chain is governed, just like in Bitcoin.

Why would you limit the max cap? Reddit is not going to do some ponzi scheme lmfao. They are trying to appeal to an ENORMOUS user base, why in the world would they ever LIMIT the max cap???? If anything the max cap is tiny compared to the amount of reddit users. You guys are literally all selfishly driven for money. All the ideas in this comment section save a few are horrendous and greedy. Jesus

Not that much debt by our government is fixed rate debt, and it is getting much worse as we have to keep borrowing more and more, esp with inflation. The real problem is when the USD loses value to inflation, the amount of borrowing will increase. Military spending does not go down because weapons cost more and Military/federal workers must also get paid more. Not to mention more cost of Medicare/Medicaid and all those govt expenses that is paid by debt. Ever wonder why a few years ago they just said "FUCK THE DEBT CEILING LIMIT... WE DONT NEED IT ANYMORE". Just let that sink in. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected that annual net interest costs would total $399 billion in 2022 and if the fed keeps raising rates would soar from $442 billion to $1.2 trillion and summing to $8.1 trillion over that period of this decade. However, if inflation is higher than CBO’s projections and if the Fed raises interest rates by larger amounts than the agency projected, such costs may rise even faster than anticipated. The fact is, they cannot pull a Paul Volker and take interest rates up to 20% to stop inflation because of the debt level and the debt to GDP. We are more screwed than people know. They have to lie to us by giving us a FAKE CPI, and lie to us by saying we are not in recession. They have to look for every excuse to prevent hyperinflation by printing money just to pay interest

Eth and BTC yea put them away for a decade (hopefully that works out). shit coins- keep them on exchanges and SET LIMIT ORDERS. I could have made 5x my money on some and absolutely could have prevented any losses on every single shit coin I bought but nope, let them languish into 90% losses.

If you look at the order book and the SELL volume/cliff. You would need to aggregate all the LIMIT SELLs from this price to $4800. Then you add up all exchanges aggregate SELLs. Then initiate a MARKET BUY across all those exchanges to get it to hit $4800 within few seconds. This is assuming no one knows your plans and aren’t setting up immediate SELL WALLS to prevent you from moving the price up too quickly.

You asked me if I'd ever worked in audit, which I have. Doesn't mean I'm an auditor now. Not great attention to detail for an alleged accountant. Nor particularly good investigation skills. ;-) And it's not me who is full of shit pal. Your claims about what an attestation engagement can and does involve are simply incorrect. A firm can include anything tests it sees fit, so long as it meets the minimum guidelines. THERE IS NO LIMIT TO WHAT TESTS A FIRM CAN DECIDE TO DO. So, no, you don't know what tests were or were not performed.

You can do it on most if not all exchanges, though for some exchanges you need to have the trader version (which is free) rather than the basic version. For example, if using coinbase, then you need to have coinbase pro (which is free), or if using Gemini, then you need to have Gemini ActiveTrader (which is also free). Take coinbase pro as an example. In the top left, first you click the dropdown menu and pick the coin you want to buy (in this case, bitcoin). Now, on the lefthand side, you will see a bar for "BUY" or "SELL". You're on BUY here. Below "BUY", there is "Amount", where you can enter in how much cash you would like to spend on bitcoin. Above that "Amount" box, you will see "MARKET", "LIMIT" and "STOP". Click "LIMIT" instead of MARKET". Now you will see boxes for both "Amount" and "Limit". In the "Amount" box, enter in the amount of cash you would spend, as usual. But, in the "Limit" box, put in the max bitcoin price you would pay. So, you could put in $25,000 for the limit, and $500 for the amount. That way, if the bitcoin price falls to $25,000, you will automatically buy $500 bitcoin. Up until the price falls to $25,000, you can cancel your order at any time and get your $500 back. You can then repeat this process, but placing limit orders at lower and lower amounts. E.g., $25,000, $23,000, $21,000, etc. That way, you will automatically purchase a set amount of bitcoin at given price intervals, without needing to be online at the exact moment bitcoin is at that level. The purchases can be made while you're asleep.

There's a lot of people doing it wrong in this thread imo. My two cents: Just figure out how much you'd want to buy at different price levels and setup a few LIMIT BUY orders. Don't try to 'snipe' by manually buying at current price, usually lower fees that too.

>The other thing you mentioned with buy orders "15-30% below market prices" is a LIMIT order, not a stop order! Don't confuse that. Limit orders are wonderful! I am not confusing it. It is done as a stop order, meaning it creates a market offer when the value reaches the preset. I can also make it generate a limit order. This way it does not appear in the order book like a limit order does.

I worked as a clerk for an investment bank in the derivatives department, let me tell you we sold stop orders to get volume and accrue trading fees, it's no secret anymore. You will get screwed when you use stop loss orders. Period. Search for "liquidity hunting" and educate yourself. MM/Whales only can get exposure by liquidity hunting, else they move the prices too much. This video describes it quite nicely: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2gm3nx4eAU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2gm3nx4eAU) The other thing you mentioned with buy orders "15-30% below market prices" is a LIMIT order, not a stop order! SET YOUR LIMIT SELLS PEOPLE!! If anyone is worried about their coin dropping too much, just set the limit at what you're willing to be your lowest selling point. When it triggers, do one of two things: 1.) Set a buy limit so that you buy back in when it hits your desired price, OR stare at charts obsessively until it hits that magical price you want...then buy lol.

How would a DEX handle slippage and limit orders or stop limit orders.... I dont think it can be cleanly done on a DEX because of the market mechanism they use. I'm sure orders can be triggered.... but doubt they can fill without slippage which sort of defeats the whole purpose of a LIMIT order....

Hope this helps Example with a 40€ buy of BTC on Kraken: Instrument: BTC-EUR Price: 40725.1 EUR Quantity: 0.001 BTC Total: 40.72 EUR Fee: 0.10589 EUR (This is the normal fee amount) **MAKER Orders** (orders that provide liquidity) - You need to use the option "**LIMIT order**" when buying or selling. A trade order gets the maker fee if the trade order is not matched immediately against an order already on the order book, which adds liquidity. You can use the post limit order option to ensure that your limit order will be charged the maker fee or be cancelled. **Maker fees start at 0.16%** on standard trading pairs, 0.20% on stablecoin and FX pairs and can go as low as 0.00% depending on your current 30-day trading volume (if your trading volume increases fees percentage will decrease). **TAKER orders** (orders that take away liquidity) When you use the default option "**MARKET order**" when buying or selling, order is immediately executed A trade order gets the taker fee if the trade order is matched immediately against an order already on the order book, which removes liquidity. All market orders will execute immediately, and will be charged the taker fee. This includes conditional orders that convert to a market order, such as a stop loss order and a take profit order. **Taker fees start at 0.26%** on standard trading pairs, 0.20% on stablecoin and FX pairs and can go as low as 0.10% on standard pairs or 0.00% on stablecoin and FX pairs.

Yeah that dude/gal from before. Not to be rude or disrespectful, but you are FOR SURE AND WITHOUT NO DOUBT (also considering the amount you wish to invest) should head back to youtube/written guides/books to educate yourself more about how all of this works. There’s definitely NO LIMIT and no matter if it’s Bitcoin or Etheruem, you can buy literally dozens of coins from most platforms.

That's not how that works. Different platforms have different rules but the best system I've seen so far is FTX. Your entire account balance is able to be used as collateral if the asset is not being used in Margin Lending or already tied up in an order. So you can deposit suitable collateral (BTC PAXG stables etc) and then place a LIMIT order at whatever price, say a $30k BTC. All this does is ensure you cannot use that collateral again for another order, holding the order open indefinitely is free and you don't have to hold any stablecoins at all during the whole thing. No payments/fees required at this stage. If your order goes through, now you have the BTC, you still have the collateral and you also have a USD debt of whatever you spent on the $30k BTC + the hourly funding rate. Now all you have to do is repay the debt back to $0. This works best using collateral that you can't otherwise earn a yield on. So I wouldn't use PAXG or BTC unless it was an emergency. FTX happens to allow crypto stocks so holding S&P500 there is a great way to earn a capital gain and hold your LIMIT orders open.

Why would someone set a STOP LOSS or TAKE profit instead of a normal LIMIT ORDER? A) I personally set a limit order say my goal is 10% gain on $100. I would do $110 LIMIT ORDER. What would be the purpose or benefit of doing a take profit at $110 instead? B) Also can both be used on the same balance? For example If I had 100 Units in total @ 100 each could I set these orders simultaneously : - Set a stop loss of 100 units at 90 (10% loss) - Set TAKE PROFIT of (same) 100 units at 110 (10% profit) If the answer to B is (Yes) then I would Understand the purpose. As with Limit orders your available balance is reduced so you can set both TAKE PROFIT and STOP LOSS on the same balance. I have to do 50% take profit as a limit order and 50% and stop loss as a limit order. Any advice would be appreciated I tried to research but couldn’t figure it out.

>That's all it takes to crash a 2 trillion dollar asset class? That's not a crash! 🤣 It was a momentary market abnormality that has a REASON it happened. That's the market meeting where there are buyers and sellers! Then triggering resting LIMIT orders that are in the market. That's HOW markets work! Are you stupid enough to sell 250 BTC $50,000 BELOW current market value.... I'm betting not. But someone WAS! This is just what happens in such cases. I bet if you had the chance, you would have snapped up that 250 BTC!

>Kraken has had more than their fair share of flash crashes Of course, any arb bots can cause these. The difference is that when Kraken their front end goes down, their trade engine still excetues every singe limit order. I have picked up BCH at 200 dollars during a flash crash cause I had a limit order in. During a flash crash on Binance, YOUR SUPER LOW LIMIT ORDERS DO NOT GET EXECUTED. I have had LINK orders in at 50% of the price and seen flash crashes that crashed the price 75% for a couple of minutes without my limit orders being executed. Kraken has never missed a single limit order. Flash crashes on Kraken if you have very low limit orders are extremely lucrative.

>A limit can be referred to as a wall. Correct..... but a LIMIT order does not create buying or selling pressure in the market, its just a static wall. Price cant advance past that wall until all the liquidity has been eaten by the other side. For OP to say that this was anything special is just fundamentally incorrect. Regardless if it was 10,000 BTC in a single trade, it was just volume sitting a price as a LIMIT order. Its no different then if 10,000 people placed 1 BTC limit sell orders at the same price.... Its all just liquidity at a set price point via using LIMIT orders. Now, if it was a 10,000 BTC AT MARKET sell order and buyers just ate the 10,000 AT MARKET sell order up without price needing to move down to find the necessary buy order liquidity to fill the AT MARKET sell order.... then its maybe something of interest.... All this is though is just a standard day in the markets, a passive LIMIT sell order sold at a set price.

Mentions:#LIMIT#BTC
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

>There is a view that it seems that there was a pending sell order of about 14,000 BTC in the BTC/USDT trading pair on OKEX, but it was subsequently eaten by the buy order. So there was a LIMIT Sell of 14,000 BTC...... but AT MARKET buy orders ate it? If that's the case, then your whole post is incorrect and shows a fundamental misunderstanding of ORDER TYPES, what impact they have on the market and what they mean. AT MARKET orders are aggressive, they will get filled at price.... ANY price where it finds enough liquidity to fill the order. LIMIT orders are passive, they will trade at the set price point and ONLY that set price point! So let's say you set a LIMIT sell order of 10,000BTC @ $60,000.... It creates no selling pressure in the market, if price trades up to $60,000 but there are only 1,000 buy orders at that price (9,000 limit sells left at $60,000), they get filled and then price trades down to $59,500, the 9,000 limit sells are STILL just sitting passively in the order book/DOM....None of those 9,000 limit sell orders will sell for less then the limit sell orders set price and create NO selling pressure! Now let's say you sell 10,000 BTC @ $60,000 using an AT MARKET sell order. First it cleans out ALL buy orders at @ $60,000, then it goes down to the next price level that has buy volume in the order book and hits all of that as well. So let's say there are buy orders as follows. 1000 @ $60,000 500 @ $59,995 1,000 @ $59,990 1,000 @ $59,985 300 @ $59,980 200 @ $59,975 500 @ $59,970 750 @ $59,965 250 @ $59,960 500 @ $59,955 100 @ $59,950 300 @ $59,945 500 @ $59,940 100 @ $59,935 500 @ $59,930 500 @ $59,925 500 @ $59,920 500 @ $59,915 500 @ $59,910 500 @ $59,905 Placing a AT MARKET sell order @ $60,000 will see price print down as volume is sought to facilitate the trade. Of course a LIMIT sell orders doesn't cause the market to crash, its very nature means it CAN'T cause the market to crash. They are a PASSIVE order type.

So am i correct in my trade idea? Or wrong? If im bullish but anticipate a small correction. It seems i would have to place the order once it goes above 1.85 if thats the case then.. So if the prices goes above 1.85 i should place a STOP at 1.899 and LIMIT at 1.84 It seems STOP-LIMIT is limited in the strategy itself. I would have to do a “trailing stop” someone suggested… If i was that bullish after 1.90 i would have to wait until it reached that price to place the order how i want it to play out.. but im anticipating a pullback… so its whether i want to risk more or lose less Thanks for hearing me out if you got this far.. just thinking outloud as its my first time with this strategy

And i have **1000 JAMS to sell and I want to sell them all.** Well obviously I have to **find a buyer.** But if theres **only 1 person** who wants to **buy $JAM at $10** and he only wants to buy **100 JAMS** But theres **another person** whose happy to buy **100 JAMS at $9.50** then I have two options. **LIMIT ORDER** (more Sensible): I sell 100 JAMS at $10 and wait to find another buyer who wants to buy at $10. So 100 JAMS to the first guy at $10 each and then I have to wait. **MARKET ORDER** (silly): I sell 1000 JAMS at whatever price I can get at the time. So 100 JAMS to the first guy for $10 each. 100 JAMS to the next guy at $9.50 each . and so on until im out of JAMS.. If I have enough JAMS, this will **temporary crash the price down** to say .. $7.50. And then **people get scared that JAMS will crash even further**, and start selling, and that crashes the price down to say .. $6.50 etc etc.

In my country hyperinflation is worse with each year, to the point were our currency (which around the year 2000 was 1 peso: 1 dollar, now has become 185 pesos : 1 dollar. Basically saving in pesos is useless and the government has A LIMIT as to how many dollars you can buy per month (which is very little). It will only execute once it drops below $400? And what's the difference between that and just a plain LIMIT sell order with the same scenario? What I mean is that BEFORE you even put your LIMIT BUY order in, you ALREADY know what your LIMIT SELL order level will be. Use a platform that lets you set these and forget (ie, not Binance, but an API trader will do it). The trade then runs without you watching. It executes, and you ether get a successful LIMIT-SELL, or you get stopped out. **nb: do NOT use this for high-frequency or futures trades on the 1m candles, unless you know how to code in Rust and run on Solana/Serum.**

zoom out my friend. doge is recovering from a 40% crash. bitcoin and eth are pumping today, and have been pumping while doge hasn't been doing much. it makes sense doge is recovering. tread with caution...I have friends in at 5 cents, that feel good holding long term. I think that they have good reason to feel good holding long term at that low price. however, in at a greater price, say you average 26 cents for 1000 doge or something (while it is up 20% today to reach this price, right, it could easily correct 5-10%) , I would set a clear price target to sell at. and possibly a minimum to stop out at. I would recommend learning about LIMIT orders, they have become essential to my trading and accumulating which I do separately. then you can ever start learning about more sophisticated trading techniques. I have been learning about different types of trading with very small sums (20$) to better understand how these types of markets behave, it has been a blast! and good luck!

“Dogecoin is a joke, it has an infinite supply, 10,000 new coins are created every minute, there is no limit on how much Dogecoin will be created." This talking point is repeated so often that even the biggest dogecoin fans just accept it as fact. But if you are among the many users in this community who believe this, I'm going to explain to you why you're wrong. First of all, let's look at where this fallacy of infinite supply came from to begin with - Bitcoin. Everyone pretty much universally agrees that Bitcoin has a "hard cap" of 21 million. There will only ever be 21 million Bitcoins in existence. 21 million is the predetermined number at which Bitcoin minting will cease, and because of that, its value is derived from its scarcity. So when compared to Dogecoin's lack of a predetermined number, it's almost common sense to think that there is no limit to its supply and therefore no scarcity from which it should derive value. But there's one very important flaw in that argument, and that is TIME. You see, despite Bitcoin's predetermined "21 million" number, none of us will be alive in the year 2140 to see the 21-millionth Bitcoin mined. Which means that just like Dogecoin, there will be new Bitcoin created every day from now until the day we die, yet we only seem to consider this a problem for Dogecoin? If you own and hold crypto (or any investment asset), you do so with the belief that AT SOME POINT in the future, you will be able to capitalize on that investment at a higher value. Whether it's 2 months, 2 years, 2 decades, or 2 generations from now, AT SOME POINT those gains will be realized. This is an important concept to grasp, because once you define SOME POINT you'll begin to realize why TIME is the fatal flaw in Dogecoin's infinite supply fallacy. Sure, Dogecoin has an infinite supply, but ONLY if you look at it over an undefined, infinite amount of time. At any GIVEN time, however, whether it be 2 months, 2 years, 2 decades, or 2 generations from now, THERE IS A HARD CAP on how much Dogecoin will be in circulation. Today there are roughly 130 billion Dogecoins in circulation. And yes, 10,000 new Dogecoins enter circulation every minute. But because there is a HARD CAP on the number of minutes per year, there is also a HARD CAP on the number of new Dogecoins added per year (5.256 billion). Let me just repeat that, for perspective. Today there are roughly 130 billion Dogecoins. 1 year from now, roughly 135 billion Dogecoins, about 4% inflation. 2 years from now, about 140 billion, 3.9% inflation. 3 years from now, about 145 billion, 3.75% inflation. Notice what's happening to the annual inflation rate -- it is diminishing year to year, which is an interesting twist that I'll come back to later... But for now let's keeping zooming out to a larger scale... 10 years from now, roughly 183 billion DOGE, 2.9% annual inflation. 30 years from now, roughly 287 billion DOGE, 1.8% annual inflation. This is an important milestone, because 1.8% is the average annual inflation rate of the US Dollar over the past 10 years. It's also worth noting that the number of USD in circulation at this time is projected to be over $3.1 TRILLION. Just to drive home that point, in 30 years, when USD's inflation rate surpasses that of DOGE, there will be 287 billion DOGE in circulation versus 3.1 trillion USD. More than 10 US DOLLARS in circulation for every ONE Dogecoin. That should be a shocking revelation to anyone reading this. It is an undeniable mathimatical fact. If you really believe that the Dogecoin supply is unlimited, what do you have to say about the dollar? In 2140, the year in which the final Bitcoin block reward is mined, there will be 21 million Bitcoins, and 755 billion Dogecoins, and over the next year, the number of circulating Bitcoins will inflate by 0.0% for the first time ever, while the number of circulating Dogecoins will inflate by 0.6%. By this time, we will all be dead and would have likely capitalized on our gains AT SOME POINT between now and then, or maybe even passed your Dogecoins down to future generations. But AT THAT POINT, whenever it may be, there will still be a known HARD CAP on the number of Dogecoins in circulation. And for those of you who still aren't convinced that Dogecoin DOES have a hard cap just because of that "lack of a predetirmined number" like Bitcoin, if you really want to talk about "infinite supply" as if it really exists, I'll even take it one step further for you, and hopefully the mathematicians in the room will know where I'm going with this... Remember the interesting twist regarding the diminishing inflation rate year over year? Well, since we're talking about the concept of infinity as it pertains to dogecoin minted per year, you must also apply the same to the rate of inflation per year, which would likewise diminish infinitely approaching zero. The interesting thing is, there exists a mathematical proof for an infinite geometric series approaching zero as a REAL LIMIT. This means that in theory, given an infinite amount of time to create an infinite number of Dogecoins, the inflationary impact of each new Dogecoin would literally be 0.0%, matching Bitcoin's 0.0%. I rest my case.

You've all seen the drive-by posts from Dogecoin critics, maybe you've even written some yourself; "Dogecoin is a joke, it has an infinite supply, 10,000 new coins are created every minute, there is no limit on how much Dogecoin will be created." This talking point is repeated so often that even the biggest dogecoin fans just accept it as fact.

A trustless source of truth would require a blockchain that tracks such information. I'm not aware of any such blockchain, but if you have a blockchain that supports all your gaslighting and bullshit now would be the time to trot it out. "Each node's influence on the network is proportional to its CPU power.." >Emphasis on cpu power, not cpu count. For posterity, and for those who did not click the link above, this is found at (https://satoshi.nakamotoinstitute.org/posts/bitcointalk/327/#selection-55.0-59.186), here forum user: gridecon is questioning Satoshi about the energy expenditure for POW, when "chain of proof" "for coin ownership and transactions doesn't depend on the method", nor is it needed because "spawning coins is a function of time." Satoshi replies: **"Each node's influence on the network is proportional to its CPU power. The only way to show the network how much CPU power you have is to actually use it.** **If there's something else each person has a finite amount of that we could count for one-person-one-vote, I can't think of it. IP addresses... much easier to get lots of them than CPUs."** The first part Satoshi is explaining to user: gridecon, that (despite all the energy consumption,) his choice of "CPU power" was because it would LIMIT the **influence ** of **each node**, **on the network**. This helps defend the network governance from botnets because putting a high demand on "CPU power" is quite conspicuous, so voluntary participation would be the norm. The second part does not really need explaining. Satoshi **can't think of** an alternative means of restricting **each person** to **one-vote**, he must use something as a proxy to stand in for each person, **something each person has a finite amount of** they need to have a computer to run the wallet/node client, it's a prerequisite for participation and botnets are hard to hide. *The proof-of-work also solves the problem of determining representation in majority decision making*. Because, *If the majority were based on one-IP-address-one-vote, it could be subverted by anyone able to allocate many IPs. Proof-of-work is essentially one-CPU-one-vote.* to represent *The majority decision*. When Satoshi wrote all that the desktop client was also a wallet and also a full node and it also used the "CPU power" to mine. Each ASIC now conveys the POW mining power of millions of lap tops and that's fine for retaining the security and rewarding those who provide it, but since mining became specialized and now requires ASICS, which is not something everyone has, we should find **something else each person has a finite amount of that we could count for one-person-one-vote**. And I contend what Satoshi originally chose it best, the computer he expected everyone to have if they wanted to use Bitcoin in the first place, a computer running the client, a CPU, a node. The difficulty of running a node being the very thing big blockers and small blockers like you and I have been arguing over all this time. I maintain UASF was perfectly legitimate. Decentralized nodes choosing for themselves voluntarily what rules they will enforce. Meanwhile to the extent ASICS convey millions of "votes" to any one person but are not something everyone has, they should not be used to represent *The majority decision*, that would be a Sybil attack.

There’s an insane amount of GME talk in here so I do believe some CC apes will be jumping over to r/superstonk to give it a read (how you all haven’t already blows my mind). For the newbies it is VITAL that you follow these couple easy steps if you choose to purchase GME (you should). Use vanguard or fidelity brokers, purchase GME through IEX (they route your buy order to the market right the fuck past shitadel) and make sure you use a buy LIMIT, not a market buy. Then, you wait. And you wait, and you wait until they start to feel the pain, until they start to bleed! Not financial advice.

To anyone looking to "buy the dip" or just looking for an entry point. Diversity is what keeps your portfolio afloat. As we saw yesterday, anything can happen. a couple of ways to safely enter the market is by breaking up your buy into smaller groups. For example, let's say you have $1,000 that you deposited into your exchange account. You could divide that 1k over different assets, so if one goes down another one has a chance to go up. Or you can also divide that 1k over time in the same asset, and buy in over time. 200 today, watch price action, 200 in a few hours/days/weeks etc, watch the market, repeat till you are done. A few hours is probably too small a time frame to make a good judgment, but days would give you an idea of where to set your next limit buy Next point: LIMIT BUY ORDER Do not buy in with a market order, buy in with a limit order. If you don't know what that is, you need to learn. There are a lot of us here that can help.

Holy shit. That okay was awesome. Thanks for sharing. I had no idea about the fees. That shots crazy. I know this asking a lot but can you please elaborate what you meant at the end of the post when you referenced LIMIT orders, you state “be sure to understand your buy/sell prices” (if I got that wrong it’s bc I don’t know how to pull this post and look what it actually said without losing what I’ve written), could you explain more on how to understand the top three things about understanding your buy/sell orders?

Not even Binance seems to support STOP LOSS, only STOP LIMIT. As far as i can tell STOP LIMIT has the potential not to trigger on wild swings because it's not able to match a price between STOP and LIMIT, leaving you sitting with a huge loss in the worst case. Sure it might be better not to sell at a loss, but what if the Asset never recovers and you weren't able to sell? Can anyone tell me, why all the Exchanges i've seen so far don't really support those "advanced" order types?

Never lower the gas limit. Never unless you are a crypto wizard doing custom smart contract work and likely on testnet. 1) You pay actual gas used. Period. So if the actual gas used is 186,328 a limit of 300,000 or a limit or 600,000 will still pay EXACTLY the same amount. 2) If you lower the limit below the actual gas required the tx will fail. So if the tx needs 238,200 then a limit of 600,000 will still pay 238,200 but a limit of 200,000 will fail causing you to lose gas and accomplish nothing. There is no scenario where lower the limit helps you save anything. At best you end up paying EXACTLY the same amount and the tx goes through. At worst you bomb the tx and pay gas for nothing. Adjust the GAS PRICE if you want but never change the GAS LIMIT. The smart contract is advising your wallet the gas limit is NEEDS to complete the tx.

Super fast tutorial: 1) Deposit from your bank to USD account in Coinbase Pro 2) Use MARKET orders to buy immediately on a coin 3) Use LIMIT orders to set a target price you want to buy or sell at so that you aren't paying "whatever the price currently is" 4) Use STOP orders to use a target price to trigger a market order (buy or sell) 5) Protip: Never use market orders to sell unless you're in a rush to sell your coin as you can wind up selling for a lower price than you intend to if the price moves once you sell. To see what you own go to your portfolio To trade go to Market My advice is to deposit a small amount into it and play with some of the cheaper coins available. I personally played with ANKR to learn the ropes. Luckily I had some experience with market trading from EVE Online (weird thing to say, I know) so the learning curve wasn't TOO steep since it has a really good market system lol.
